John D. Potvin, CPA

John is one of our tax partners responsible for the execution and delivery of tax related services provided to clients by Harvey & Horowitz, P.C. In addition, John is the client engagement service partner responsible for providing both accounting and tax services for several of the firm’s larger clients. John has over thirty years of public accounting and private industry experience. Prior to becoming a partner with Harvey & Horowitz, P.C., John was most recently the Director of Tax, Insurance, and Treasury and also was an Officer at Carvel Ice Cream Corporation. Prior to Carvel, John provided tax consulting services to clients in various industries for Deloitte & Touche, LLP for nearly a decade. John has experience in all the major areas of income and transfer taxation. His areas of specialization include partnership and S corporation taxation, multi-state taxation, ESOP accounting and taxation, U.S. taxation of out-bound foreign transactions and long-term contract tax accounting. John has worked with clients in many business segments and industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, construction, and service businesses.

John resides in Farmington, Connecticut, and received his Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in Accounting in 1975 and his Masters in Taxation in 1990 from the University of Hartford. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants including its Tax Division. He is also a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and a member of its State Taxation Committee. John has spoken to public and private groups on various tax related matters and has participated in tax related training sessions for other CPA’s and professionals.
